The 3-day Hampton Jazz Festival features a variety of jazz, pop, blues, soul and R&B.

Friday, Jun 27, 2014 7:30 PM

Friday’s show features the incomparable Charlie Wilson. Since storming back onto the music scene after his departure from the Gap Band, Charlie has turned out one hit after another and is currently one of the finest entertainers working today. Making his festival debut this year will be Jaheim – billed as possibly the next Luther – fans will come to appreciate the true greatness of his voice. Also appearing on Friday will be a super jazz package featuring Jonathan Butler, Norman Brown and Alex Bugnon. This is probably smooth jazz at its best. Friday’s show will open with Jackie Scott & The Housewreckers with special guest William ‘Mobetta’ Ledbetter.

Saturday, Jun 28, 2014 7:00 PM

Saturday’s show features Hampton Jazz Festival’s favorite – The O’Jays – paired with another icon of R&B music – Chaka Khan. Together they are sure to give Festival patrons a once in a lifetime experience. Also appearing will be Morris Day & The Time – a great throwback to music from the 70’s and 80’s. Rounding out Saturday will be one of the true icons of the smooth jazz genre – Spyro Gyra.

Sunday, Jun 29, 2014 2:00 PM

Sunday’s show will feature something truly special. Toni Braxton and Babyface will both appear and perform complete shows – but what will be really exciting for Festival patrons will be that they will perform songs together from their brand new smash album “Love, Marriage & Divorce”. This will surely be one of the highlights of the Festival. Also appearing will be Dave Koz and Friends Summer Horns 2014 with Mindi Abair, Gerald Albright and Richard Elliott. Local Hampton Jazz fans will also delight in this year’s Sunday opener The Now & Then Trio + One, well-known throughout the Tidewater area.

Tickets for this highly anticipated event go on sale Friday, November 15th at 10 a.m., available at, the Sun Life Stadium Box Office, and at Ticketmaster locations.

“Jazz in the Gardens is one of the fastest growing shows in the U.S. right now. We’re booking the best talent in the business. We listen to the fans and who they want to see; and there isn’t a performer we don’t consider. We’re off to a great start with D.L. Hughley, Trey Songz, Kelly Rowland, Mint Condition, Rachelle Ferrell and Boney James. The fan feedback has been very positive and we have more A-list artists to add,” said Scott Gartner, producer, AEG Live. “If you like good food, soul, rhythm and blues and jazz, you’re going to love this show,” he added.

The festival will kick off on Friday, March 14th with the Women’s Impact Conference & Luncheon at Shula’s Hotel & Golf Club. Later that evening, Jazz in the Gardens begins with the inaugural Friday night party at Calder Casino; the headlining performer will be named at a later date. Five more headliners will be announced in the coming weeks to perform on Saturday, March 15th and Sunday, March 16th, 2014.

Jazz in the Gardens owes its success to a simple formula: a star-studded line-up, great food, affordable ticket prices and amazing weather.
