It’s summer so “Get Up And Dance!” Contemporary jazz ace trumpeter Rick Braun is leapfrogging up the Billboard chart with what bodes to be the song of the summer, a fun frolic full of horns and the snap, crackle and pop of live instrumentation. The radio single, a duet with sax star Dave Koz, is already No. 7 on the chart, the first cut from Braun’s forthcoming “Can You Feel It” album, which is due July 8. In this live performance clip, fellow sax star Euge Groove steps in for Koz on the undeniable R&B/funk instrumental.

With temperatures creeping up and a long holiday weekend on the horizon, get a feel for Braun’s sixteenth album encapsulated on this track. The energetic, honeyed horn harmonies and funk-filled grooves are performed with passion and precision by Braun and some of the finest players in contemporary jazz. “Get Up And Dance” will no doubt be another No. 1 single added to Braun’s lengthy list of chart-toppers with an array of follow-ups to come from “Can You Feel It,” Braun’s first contemporary jazz album in five years. Have you listened to the Braun-produced CD and considered him for a feature, interview, album review and/or an appropriate roundup piece? Please let me know if you need anything on our end. Thanks for your open ears.

Guitar – Jamie Bonk
Bass – Henrik Bridger
