This will surely be one of the highlights of the Festival. Also appearing will be Dave Koz and Friends Summer Horns 2014 with Mindi Abair, Gerald Albright and Richard Elliott. Local Hampton Jazz fans will also delight in this year’s Sunday opener The Now & Then Trio + One, well-known throughout the Tidewater area.

Started in 1990 as the San Jose Jazz Festival, San Jose Jazz Summer Fest has become one of the most popular music festivals in the West. What began as one small stage focusing on fusion and straight-ahead jazz has grown into a 12-stage, 3-day extravaganza featuring a wide range of international stars, emerging artists and regional favorites playing straight-ahead jazz, blues, salsa, Latin, R&B, and more.

The festival is powered by San Jose Jazz, a region-wide, 25 year-old non-profit organization that enriches our community through education and performance. San Jose Jazz provides music education programs that have helped more than 65,000 gifted and underserved youth in the last decade. The organization presents 160+ free concerts per year, and other concerts and series including Winter Fest. Learn more at

The Hanson House Foundation is proud to announce the 16th Annual Palm Springs Smooth Jazz Festival, Saturday, May 14th at the Palm Springs Riviera Resort and Spa.

This annual charity benefit will begin at 6 pm with a garden reception featuring British smooth jazz guitarist Chris Standring followed by dinner and dancing in the Riviera Grand Ball Room and a two set performance by super saxman Dave Koz. All proceeds from the evening will benefit the Hanson House Foundation, the Coachella Valley’s first and only hospital hospitality house. The Mission Statement of the Hanson House is very simple: “To provide a community supported facility with low or no cost services whose dedicated staff and volunteers are committed to making available a safe, clean and caring temporary home away from home for the families of the critically ill and injured.”

Hanson House has 16 guest rooms accommodating up to 64 guests per night. Since opening in December of 2003, more than 5,000 families have been served with more than 15,000 guests nights. Hanson House has a volunteer staff operating 365 days a year.

The Palm Springs Smooth Jazz Festival is the 16th Annual fund raiser for the Hanson House Foundation.

Headliner Dave Koz

In a career that spans twenty years and a dozen albums, saxophonist Dave Koz has established himself as one of the most prominent figures in contemporary music. Koz’s 2011 Hello Tomorrow Tour pushes the reset button for an artist who’s been in the game for two decades, and positions him for the next chapter in a story that is already multi-dimensional and compelling.

Starting off the evening will be British Smooth jazz guitarist Chris Standring

Over the course of six CDs, Standring has distinguished himself in the contemporary jazz realm with adventurous and lyrical compositions leavened with pure-pop perfection, dazzling guitar solos and thick beats. His latest CD “Blue Bolero” was selected as JazzTrax 2010 Album of the Year.

Tickets are $68 per person for a Jazz Cat Reserved Seat.

Hanson House Benefactor Tickets including a three course dinner and preferred seating are $217.50 per person. More Information/Purchase Tickets by Phone or On Line:
