MAY 19, 20 2012
Take in the beauty of Estes Park, the art in numerous galleries and listen to the sounds of jazz. Estes Park’s free 22nd annual Jazz Fest/Art Walk weekend kicks of the season in style Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20.
What better way to open the summer season in Estes Park than with jazz playing amidst the beautiful rock backdrop of Performance Park outdoor amphitheater.
The Festival has grown from its humble beginnings over two decades, into a two-day event, featuring the finest national and regional jazz artists. This year is no different. The festival features stellar line-ups of performers presenting music with New Orleans roots to thriving and diverse present day sounds.
Eight jazz groups are presented over two days and the festival features two headliner acts — one each day on Saturday and for Sunday. Saturday’s headliner will be legendary jazz drummer Louis Hayes, with his New York Quartet performing at 2:30 pm on May 19. Sunday’s headliner, Kevin Mahogany, a world-famous jazz vocalist, takes the stage with his group on May 20 at 2:40 pm.
The jazz continues at night when there will be a performance of the Max Wagner Trio on Saturday night May 19 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm in downtown Estes Park at Mama Rose’s Italian Restaurant.
