For Jackiem Joyner and like many musicians, Gospel music is at the foundation of their start and certainly in the heart.

“I can remember a time when I couldn’t wait until church service was done so I could get a chance to bang on the instruments,” says Joyner. “One day the Pastor of my church told me that I was going to learn an instrument and be very involved in the gospel ministry. I had no instrumental experience and had no idea what he was talking about.”

Jazz At The Creek 2013

The NEW GENERATION of jazz, Jazz at the Creek, is making it’s landmark in San Diego!

This year’s lineup includes:

August 10th – Freddie Fox with special guest Evelyn “Champagne” King, Eddie Baccus Jr., Jason Brown & The Pizarro Brothers

This concert series is unique on the San Diego jazz scene in setting as well as purpose, and will afford you the opportunity to encounter Jazz enthusiasts from all across San Diego County, Southern California and neighboring states. In a city where the majority of jazz concerts take place indoors at clubs, hotels, libraries and the like; or at very large outdoor arenas and concert venues; Jazz at the Creek offers an intimate outdoor setting along the banks of Chollas Creek in the beautiful Market Creek amphitheatre, where the stage is set into the creek bed.

Jazz at the Creek will take place on Saturdays from 3:00pm – 8:00pm, with the doors opening at 2:00pm on June 1st, July 6th and August 10th, at the Market Creek Plaza Amphitheatre located at 310 Euclid Avenue, San Diego CA 92114.

Joyner made his debut in 2007 as a standout saxophonist who plays a range of other instruments. With his masterful talent of instrumental jazz, Joyner tells a story without words.

Jazz In The Woods 2012

Jazz in the Woods is Kansas City’s largest annual free music event put on by the Overland Park South Rotary Club to raise money to provide assistance for helping the children of Kansas City build a brighter tomorrow.

Each year, 3 local charities that specialize in helping area youth, benefit from the proceeds raised with Jazz In The Woods. In 2012, Operation Breakthrough, Lee Ann Britain Infant Development Center, the Love Fund for Children, and the Overland Park South Rotary Foundation will be the recipient.

We are excited to announce that our jazz festival has a new name, Arizona Jazz Festival and a new “home” starting this spring at The Wigwam a beautiful resort in Litchfield Park, AZ. We are very enthusiastic about our new partnership that will not only make this a great festival but also an experience you will never forget!
