This is the 1st Annual Red Cat Jazz Festival at Jones Plaza (Downtown Houston) with performances by Ronnie Laws, Bobby Lyles, Marion Meadows, Kermit Ruffins, Theresa Grayson, Jimmy Baber, Kyle Turner, Michael Ward, and more to be.

Jones Plaza has a long history as downtown Houston’s outdoor centerpiece, dating to its construction in 1966. The plaza is one block square across the streets from both Jones Hall and Alley Theatre in the heart of the Theater District. It is bounded on the north and south by Texas and Capitol avenues and on the east and west by Louisiana and Smith streets. Jones Plaza is now more accessible and more suitable for everyday use by the general public after renovations. Culminating 15 months of construction, Jones Plaza was reopened prior to the Thanksgiving Parade in 2001 after a $6.5 million facelift funded by the City of Houston.
