The multi-Grammy nominated session drummer, producer, composer & recording artist Harvey Mason was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He began taking formal drum lessons at age seven, playing in school bands and finally buying his first drum set at 16. He continued his education at the Berklee School of Music, then attended the New England Conservatory of Music on full scholarship, studying performance, composing, arranging, percussion and mallets. In 1970, he graduated with a B.A. in Education and Performance. In the’70s and ’80s, “Mase” was working on Donald Byrd’s commercial breakthrough album “Black Byrd” and a series of successful crossover albums for Blue Note Records. This led to his seminal work on Herbie Hancock’s jazz masterpiece “Head Hunters” (1974). Since then, Harvey has worked with a pantheon of musical giants, including Barbra Streisand, James Brown, Beyonce, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Carlos Santana, Michael Jackson, John Legend, Seal and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has composed and written songs recorded by artists ranging from Nancy Wilson and Mary J. Blige to The Notorious B.I.G. and Nelly/P. Diddy. Mason is also a founding member of Fourplay. “Chameleon”, Mason’s 10th solo project overall, adds one more remarkable chapter to his legacy. A blend of R&B, urban and cutting-edge jazz, Chameleon takes its inspiration from the title track, which Mason co-wrote with Herbie Hancock, and is a knowing nod to Mason himself, aptly dubbed the “Chameleon” for his uncanny ability to perform so many styles of music.

In order to make this event a reality, we are registering people for the second week in August of 2018. We need to fill 60 cabins on the ship by the beginning of March with a $1000 per person deposit.

Just CLICK HERE to learn more and register!

The event is a seven day European River cruise from Budapest to Nuremberg up the Danube River departing on August 18, 2018 on AMA Waterways ship AmaCerto. Rick Braun, Peter White, and Vincent Ingala, will be on board the whole week for entertainment in the lounge each evening…and to hang with during the day and at meals. This is an up-close experience you cannot have anywhere else! The event would include OPTIONAL pre and post trips that you could add to the cruise, but for now we are focused on the cruise. The optional land add ons are being developed by our travel agent, but again, they are optional add ons.

It is VERY different from an ocean cruise and any concert you have been to before. The key words are intimate and unplugged. From who you cruise with, to the great music you will hear, to just hanging with the band and like-minded people while exploring the beauty of Europe as up close as you can get. The ship only has 82 rooms and you will only be with friends as we plan to charter the ship. If you never have been on a river cruise, it is quite the experience. ALL of the amenities of an AMA Waterways river cruise will be part of this cruise – from world class food, complimentary wine and beer at lunch and dinner, included excursions to see sites and cities along the river, staterooms with river view and almost 60% have unique twin balconies comprised of a French balcony plus a walkout balcony, a cruise manager for questions and assistance, AND an incredible staff to passenger ratio. See below for a list from the cruise line of what is included on their end.

Credit card prices will range from approximately $4300 to $6300 per person for cabins and approximately $7500 per person for suites (there are only four suite type rooms). This is an all-inclusive rate which includes cabin, meals, wine and beer with lunch and dinners, tax, port charges, administrative costs and gratuities! This is an incredible deal that is slightly above the normal retail rates on these cruises with FIRST CLASS entertainment! A discount of approximately $200 per person will be offered to those who will make their payments by check.

The U.K. Band Acoustic Alchemy have spent over a quarter century making music and in that time they have not only received critical acclaim for their albums (including several Grammy nominations), but also have built a reputation for being one of the most exciting live bands in the business. Through it all, the overriding mission of the band has been to push the potential of instrumental music to embrace a broad spectrum of styles without being limited to any specific genre. For the last decade the band lineup has been made up of Greg Carmichael on nylon guitar, Miles Gilderdale on steel string acoustic and electric guitars, Fred White on keyboards and the powerhouse rhythm section of Greg Grainger on drums and his brother, Gary on bass. But the band’s story began with two guitarists, Nick Webb and Simon James, who recorded a self-financed, self-produced album in the mid 1980s entitled Acoustic Alchemy. Shortly after the release, James left the partnership and Webb promoted the record on his own. He turned to a rock guitarist named Greg Carmichael and the two assumed the name of Acoustic Alchemy. The duo initially worked for Virgin Airlines, recording in-flight music for trans-Atlantic flights, then signed to MCA, where they released their debut album “Red Dust & Spanish Lace”. After two more records on MCA, Acoustic Alchemy moved to GRP and released the Grammy-nominated “Reference Point”. Some years later Webb had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He died in 1998, so Gilderdale, who was playing in the electric guitar slot at the time, had to expand his technical skills and repertoire on acoustic guitar to take Webb’s place alongside Carmichael at the front of the band.
