Welcome to the MALLORCA SMOOTH JAZZ FESTIVAL – the only smooth jazz festival in the European Mediterranean area. Actually, in Sa Coma, on the beautiful east coast of the Spanish island Mallorca.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT from the 9. Mallorca Smooth Jazz Festival 2021 – Travel update

On 21st of June 2020, Mallorca (Spain) lifted the quarantine duty for arriving foreign travellers and opened the borders for most European countries. In addition, the safety protocols were issued, allowing a smooth festival production in consideration of all participants’ health and safety being the first priority.
Unfortunately, in the beginning of July 2020, US and European authorities decreed to uphold the travel bans/restrictions between USA and Europe due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Against the background that nearly all announced artists are USA based, these governmental decrees do not allow any planning reliability and will make it impossible for us to ensure the festival experience and atmosphere we owe all guests for October 2020.

For these reasons, the 9th MALLORCA SMOOTH JAZZ FESTIVAL is rescheduled due to COVID-19 pandemic to the beginning of October 2021.

Very sad, but it is the right choice for everyone. We are acting now so you do not have to worry how the current environment will affect your festival reservation or weigh upon any decision you may wish to make. Disappointment is certain, but it is better to look forward to a safe and complete experience in 2021, than to endure the anxiety of a music travel in October 2020.

We are looking forward to seeing you in October 2021.

Stay healthy. Best regards,

Sandra & Christian

Inspired keyboardist, composer, prolific studio musician, and producer, Brian Simpson is a master of all he purveys. His eloquent approach to playing, sophisticated harmonics sense, bluesy overtones, R&B flavor and his keen sense of how to craft a song that stands the test of time have made him the go-to man for many. Through the years, Simpson has been revered for his unparalleled ability to compose unforgettable melodies and irresistible grooves. Simpson’s soulful approach to music has made him the first call for many including Janet Jackson, Teena Marie, George Duke, Stanley Clarke, and Dave Koz. A chart-topping musical chameleon who wrote the #1 R&B hit “The First Time” for Surface in the 1990s, Brian Simpson has a knack for churning out timeless anthems.

Simpson’s approach is simple, “I’m following in the footsteps of those that laid the foundation of contemporary jazz music. The fusing of jazz and R&B is just what contemporary jazz is all about.”

After graduating from Northern Illinois University, Simpson relocated to Los Angeles where he quickly immersed himself in the local jazz scene. Late-night jazz sessions found him playing alongside everyone from saxophonists Everette Harp and Boney James to guitarist Norman Brown. The free-spirited musician soon found himself taking a temporary leave of absence from the jazz scene, touring the world with pop divas Teena Marie, Sheena Easton, and Janet Jackson.

Placing his success in pop aside, Brian Simpson has always been a working jazz musician. He has toured with some of the greats of recent jazz history, including George Duke, Stanley Clarke, Larry Carlton, Billy Cobham, and Gerald Albright. Brian had been the musical director for jazz saxophonist Dave Koz for close to 20 years and for a decade the Musical Director of the ambitious and highly popular “The Smooth Jazz Cruise.”

Blue Pyramid Productions is proud to have Brian Simpson at The Attucks Theatre in celebration of the 5th season of the Church Street Jazz Series.

Olá Smooth Jazz-Lovers all over the world,

The wait is over! In our consecutive 4th year in Portugal, we proudly present the new home of the ALGARVE SMOOTH JAZZ FESTIVAL: PINE CLIFFS – an award-winning Resort & Spa in Albufeira, which is one of the leading Luxury and Family Resorts in Europe. The exquisite hidden jewel enjoys a spectacular seafront location on the top of the Algarvian red cliffs, above the famous beach, Praia da Falésia – considered to be in the top3 most beautiful beaches of Portugal and Spain.

The 5-star resort, managed by Marriott International through its ‘The Luxury Collection’ brand, is traditionally styled with indigenous design, where Portuguese history is narrated through murals and hand painted tiles, skillfully complemented by native architecture. On 72 hectares, Pine Cliffs boasts exceptional leisure and sports facilities incl. the 1,100m² awarded Serenity Spa, a gym & health club, a Tennis Academy, a 9-hole cliff-top golf course and Golf Academy as well as swimming pools and water sports (seasonal). A selection of 11 restaurants and bars provide a prime dining experience – one of them on the beach, accessible via a walkway and panoramic elevator.

The Resort comes up with different options of hotels and properties: For our festival packages, we chose on the one hand the ‘Pine Cliffs Hotel’ and the ‘Pine Cliffs Ocean Suites’. They are both part of the Luxury Collection brand and are located in the main building complex, where the main festival action happens. And on the other hand, we chose in short walking distance the brand-new ‘Pine Cliffs Gardens’ (built in 2018) and the ‘Pine Cliffs Townhouses’. The latter are available with up to 3 separate bedrooms (each with its own bathroom), a living room and a full equipped kitchen – the most cost effective solution and perfect for being shared with friends.

The Resort also comes up with a fabulous place for the concerts: The ‘Tabu Garden Lounge‘ is an open-air venue right on top of the cliffs. Imagine, live-music in your ears, a cool drink in your hand… and from your seat, you are not just overlooking the stage, but also the Atlantic Ocean. Is there any better way to enjoy a first-class artist line-up??? And the after show parties at the ‘Aldar Club’ in the main building will round off every evening.
