The Steel City Jazz Festival for 2018 has been postponed. The festival has been rescheduled for June 2019. All tickets for the previously scheduled Steel City Jazz Festival 2018 for June 1st and 2nd will be honored in 2019. Ticketholders who are unable to attend the rescheduled festival in 2019 can get a full refund from their point of purchase.

Festival organizer Cedric Allen says, “We wanted to provide festival goers with a new venue in 2018 that included a number of improvements such as shelter from inclement weather, easier access to parking, better restrooms, more food vendors, an improved sound system, stronger security, and more. However, it is abundantly clear to us that you preferred our previous venue for our Jazz festival which has drawn thousands in the four years of operation.” Allen added, “We thank our fans for their input, apologize for any inconvenience, and commit to making every effort to implement the aforementioned changes and bring you an even better line-up in 2019 for the best Steel City Jazz Festival experience ever.”

They will be updating the 2019 festival on their website http://www.SteelCityJazzFestbham.com as festival details are finalized. Also, look for upcoming performances, interviews, new photo galleries and videos as they plan for the Steel City Jazz Festival 2019.

The Lowcountry Jazz Festival, South Carolina’s premiere annual Smooth Jazz event, celebrates its 10th Anniversary in 2018 in a dynamic new venue – the Charleston Gaillard Center – and with a stellar lineup of superstar artists and up and coming instrumentalists and vocalists. The festival continues its Labor Day weekend tradition, kicking off Saturday, September 1.

The 2018 headliners include chart-topping genre icons, saxophonist Boney James, pianist David Benoit, acoustic guitarist Marc Antoine, electric guitarist Nick Colionne, keyboardist Brian Simpson and saxophonist Eric Darius. Also featured are rising flutist Althea Rene, R&B/jazz singer-songwriter Selina Albright, and saxophonist Jazmin Ghent. More talent is set to be added in the coming weeks and months.

The Greater Charleston Lowcountry Jazz Festival is the primary fundraiser for Closing the Gap in Health Care, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose primary mission is decreasing health disparities and increasing health literacy, especially for African Americans and the underserved in our community, South Carolina, and the nation.

The organization airs radio and television health tips, publishes a weekly e-newsletter, and provides information on social media to improve health literacy. Lectures, seminars, and youth and community activities are also provided by Closing the Gap in Health Care, Inc.

Proceeds from the Festival support the mission of Closing the Gap in Health Care, Inc. and the Thaddeus John Bell, M.D. Endowment Fund. This scholarship fund was created conjointly with the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina to assist students who pursue a health science degree and graduate from the Medical University of South Carolina. This will facilitate an increase in the number of African American health providers in the state.
