After 16 years of musical training, classical guitarist Jesse Cook established a serious musical career in composition and production, seemingly incognizant of his own talent for performance. A gifted instrumentalist, Cook’s ability as a performer came to widespread public attention in the mid 1990s and only because a cable television company played his recordings as piped in background music for the television channel guide.

Accordingly, he released his first album literally by popular demand and in response to the myriad call-in requests from television viewers who enjoyed the background sounds on the channel guide. The album debuted at number 14 on the Billboard New Age chart. By 2000, Cook’s performances regularly drew sell out crowds, and his recordings sold quickly to an eager public. In 2001, three of his four albums had attained gold certification in his native Canada.

The Art and All That Jazz Festival is an annual event held the third weekend in August in Burnsville Minnesota in the beautiful Heart of the City. Now in it’s seventh year, the festival has become the centerpiece of summer activities in the area, attracting over 15,000 people. Our unique blend of art vendors, national music acts, and food in the cultural hub of the south suburbs makes our event the place to be, and the place to be seen. In addition, there will be some big changes this year.

The first big change, thanks to SKB Environmental, is the addition of an indoor performance on Friday night. The Larry Carlton Trio will kick off the event with a show in the Burnsville Performing Arts Center. Sponsors and VIP ticket holders will be able to begin the evening with a reception. After his performance, Larry will meet the special guests in a reserved area. Tickets for this event will go on sale on Ticketmaster March 19 at 11:00am. Thanks to SKB Environmental, the regular ticket price is only $32.

The second big change is that the outdoor Saturday festival will return to free admission and we will have a covered stage! The star-studded show will feature Jesse Cook as the headline act, sponsored by Pawn America. Other acts include Lao Tizer with Karen Briggs and Chieli Minucci, Steve Clarke and the Working Stiffs and our very own south of the river favorite: the youthful and very talented Penguins.

In addition to an outstanding line-up of musicians, and over 100 art and food vendors, there will be a new child-friendly section in the park, the focus of which will be the “instrument petting zoo.”

Art and All That Jazz, Inc. is a 501C3 non-profit corporation. If you are interested in partnering with us by sponsoring the event, please contact us at info@burnsvilleartjazz.com.

By sponsoring us, you will raise the visibility of your organization in ways that are only possible through our festival.
