Local residents and out-of-town visitors gather each June in shaded, historic Oakdale Park, near the banks of the river, to enjoy the unique celebration known to many as “the Festival.”

Now in its 38th year, the River Festival spans three-and-a-half days in early June. The Festival is best known nationally for its excellent art and cultural programming, its relaxed, family-friend atmosphere, and the natural way in which many vibrant art installations and other key elements mingle, to challenge visitors in surprising and delightful ways.

Featuring a rainbow of artistic offerings for the senses, the River Festival offers a veritable symphony of fine art and crafts, children’s activities, Festival food, and more. Four stages of top-notch musical and roving entertainment round out the menu for the event that officially kicks off the summer season for thousands of residents and out-of-town guests. The Festival is scheduled for Thursday through Sunday, June 12-15, 2014.

Smooth Jazz fans will visit the festival on Sunday, June 15, 2014 – 1:00 pm to attend the concert of the Joseph Vincelli Group on Stage II.

The Balcones Heights Jazz Festival has been captivating South Texas jazz fans for nearly 20 years. The free concert series takes place each July and August, on Friday evenings at the spectacular outdoor Amphitheater at Wonderland of the Americas.

Now in its 37th year, the River Festival spans three-and-a-half days in early June. The Festival is best known nationally for its excellent art and cultural programming, its relaxed, family-friend atmosphere, and the organic way in which many vibrant art installations and other key elements mingle, to challenge returning and new visitors in surprising and delightful ways.

Featuring a rainbow of artistic offerings for the senses, the River Festival offers a veritable symphony of fine art and crafts, children’s activities, Festival food, and more. Four stages of top-notch musical and roving entertainment round out the menu for this ‘create your own’ event that officially kicks off the summer season for thousands of residents and out-of-town guests. The Festival is scheduled for Thursday through Sunday, June 6-9, 2013.

The River Festival begins on Thursday evening with the Festival Jam concert on June 6, at 6 p.m. Festival gates open that night at 4, come early to stake out your spot and enjoy supper on the grounds from more than 30 outstanding Festival food vendors. That’s just the beginning, as the Festival evolves over the weekend with special events including a fun run, Big Band Dance, children’s art activities, artisan craft demonstrations and more, highlighted by time to browse each fine art and craft booth and enjoy entertainment on the hour on the Festival stages.

Admission to the Smoky Hill River Festival is by Festival Button only, which are $10 in advance or $15 at the Gate. Gates of the River Festival open at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for patrons to enter, with activities running from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, the Festival’s final day. So, grab your lawn chair, blanket, and cooler and plan to join your friends and loved ones for a time of relaxation and discovery at the Smoky Hill River Festival.

Bring your lawn chair and stake out a spot close to the stage – the 36th annual Smoky Hill River Festival promises to deliver the music styles you love, and music you’ll discover. Rock, funk, salsa, jazz, hip hop, swing, bluegrass, and more – you name it; you’ll hear it.

On Friday, June 7, 2012: Saxophonist, flutist, author – what sets Joseph Vincelli apart from other smooth jazz artists is his ability to create music from an array of sources which many others would consider stretching the limits. He studied in Boston at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. It was here he learned a deep appreciation for the art of improvisation.

During a ten-year stint in New York and Los Angeles he toured and recorded with Buddy Miles, Ice Cube, Bobby Goldsboro, Jerry Vale and Burt Reynolds. Joseph has toured extensively throughout North America, with visits to Brazil, Venezuela, England, Italy, Australia and South Africa. Vincelli is the 1998 recipient of the Scott Joplin Award for achievement and the 2000 Hall of Fame winner at the Clearwater Jazz Holiday festival.
