Steve Cole is one of the most celebrated players in contemporary jazz, having sold hundreds of thousands of albums worldwide and scored four #1 R&R Smooth Jazz hits. He attended Northwestern University, where he explored modern classical music for the saxophone under the tutelage of internationally recognized educator Fred Hemke. While in undergraduate school, this gifted musician was a semi-finalist in the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts and one of three finalists in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and was awarded the privilege of performing Tableaux De Provence by Paule Maurice with the CSO. Cole went on to earn his MBA which paved the way in his being appointed to Professor at the University of St. Thomas – a position which he maintains today.

Cole began his professional career, playing sessions and club dates wherever possible; he recorded with blues legend Junior Wells and began playing, writing and producing with Atlantic Records artists Brian Culbertson. His visibility at the label grew, and soon Cole signed his own deal with Atlantic. He released his debut disc, “Stay Awhile”, in 1998; it yielded the hits “Where the Night Begins,” “When I Think of You” and “Say It Again” and earned Cole a Prism Award for Best New Artist at the 2000 Oasis Smooth Jazz Awards.

Steve has toured and/or recorded with Boz Scaggs, Larry Carlton, Jeff Lorber, Brian Culbertson, Freddie Cole, Cyrus Chestnut, KMFDM, Rick Braun, Dave Koz, Peter White, Marc Antoine and is a founding member, along with Jeff Kashiwa and Kim Waters, of The Sax Pack. Steve has six CDs in his catalog and has just finished his 7th solo album. This project will be released in late August 2013, and goes back to his Funk, R&B, Blues, and Jazz roots.

Trumpet | Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 08:00 pm

A native of Buffalo, New York, Cindy Bradley started playing the piano when she was six. At fourth grade she picked the trumpet by accident, which turned out to be a life and career defining fluke. By 12, she was performing professionally with a Buffalo area jazz band that consisted of promising musicians, ages 12-17, which emulated the big bands of the 1940s. She played with many jazz groups over the years, but it was with this group that she fell in love with performance, jazz, and especially the trumpet.

After a bachelor’s degree in jazz studies, she went to the New England Conservatory to study for her master’s in jazz trumpet performance. After earning her degrees, Cindy immediately headed to the New York City area and immersed herself in the vibrant jazz scene, discovering equal passions for straight ahead be-bop and contemporary jazz, as well as funk, Top 40, R&B and jazz fusion. The bands she was involved with played clubs as well as high profile events like the Emmy Awards and even the Super Bowl.

Calling her 2009 album “Bloom” proved prophetic, as the multi-talented performer blossomed into a powerful and charismatic presence at radio and on the contemporary jazz festival circuit. Along the way, Cindy performed everywhere from the River Raisin’ Jazz Festival in Monroe, Michigan, to the Dubai Jazz Fest. She won Best New Artist at the American Smooth Jazz Awards and was named Debut Artist of the Year by the Catalina Island Jazz Trax Festival and Smooth Jazz News. With the release of “Unscripted” (2011), her latest recording, Cindy Bradley is not only keeping the trumpet and flugelhorn hip and grooving lead jazz instruments like her late great heroes Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan and Blue Mitchell. The first single “Massive Transit” reached #1 on Billboard’s singles chart for 6 weeks in 2012 followed by “Deja Blue” on #2 and “Lifted” on #5.
