The La Porte Jazz Festival presents Grammy Award winners Maurice “MoBetta” Brown, Kirk Whalum, Elan Trotman, Ronnie Laws, LaLa’ Wilson, Joey Sommerville, Michael Ward, Mike Hamilton, Tom Browne, Preston Smith, Jazmin Ghent and Diunna Greenleaf. Step Rideau will kick things off with Zydeco at noon. Althea Rene will not perform on this festival as she stated today.

The 2016 – 2017 Church Street Jazz Series kicks off October 14th At The Attucks Theater with the Legendary (Funkin For Jamaica) Tom Browne. November 18th it’s saxophonist Nelson Rangell & acoustic guitarist Marc Antoine. MLK Weekend January 13th, 2017 is the the legendary drummer Harvey Mason & Band. March 3rd features sensational rising Smooth Jazz vocalist Lindsey Webster. And this year to end the series season at the Harrison Opera House we conclude the series with the legendary Bob James. A very rare complete evening of just Bob James and his band live in concert. Season Tickets and individual tickets go in sale mid September. Season Ticket holders get a 15% discount and guaranteed sames seats each show. VIP ticket holders get entrance to the Artist Meet & Greet complete with heavy hors d’oeurves.

With the enthusiastic support of the local community and city officials (Supervisor John Zaragoza, Mayor Pro-Tem Carmen Rameriz, Councilman Bryan MacDonald, Ventura County Harbor Department Director, Lyn Krieger), and area businesses, The Inaugural Oxnard Jazz Festival (OJF) is taking place on Saturday, September, 10, 2016 at Oxnard Beach Park.

OJF is a cultural music celebration offering a diverse mix of Jazz, Latin, Soul, Blues and R&B.
