Bob Baldwin is a jazz artist, composer, keyboardist, producer, arranger, radio host and author. He is currently in the lab, grinding out and updating tracks from his massive unreleased catalog as well as a smooth jazz super-party track that will be like no other…stay tuned for that this fall.

Across a career spanning two decades and twenty albums, Bob Baldwin has proven to be one of the most ubiquitous and ingenious chameleons of Contemporary Jazz—both in his own projects and those he has endeavored upon for others. Recently, he has turned to honoring the canons of giants with Never Can Say Goodbye: A Tribute to Michael Jackson (2010) and Betcha By Golly Wow / The Songs of Thom Bell (2012).

Then, in 2015, Baldwin turned to the sprawling catalog of Stevie Wonder to create one of his finest projects ever, MelloWonder: Songs in the Key of Stevie—an unprecedented one-from-the-heart that has taken him two years to lovingly assemble. MelloWonder is 14 songs, 12 covers and two originals, primarily featuring Baldwin on a battery of ivories, keyboards and synthesizers along with special guests that include saxophonists, Ryan Kilgore (currently a member of Stevie’s Wonderlove band) and Najee, and flautist Ragan Whiteside. Highlights include “Creepin’,” “Lately,” “Love’s Light in Flight,” “You and I”, and “Rocket Love.”

His musical influences include Herbie Hancock, Patrice Rushen, Chick Corea, Earth Wind & Fire, Ramsey Lewis, Stevie Wonder and the late, greats Joe Sample, Miles Davis and George Duke.

Christopher “Big Dog” Davis is a Waterbury native and two-time Grammy nominated writer and producer, who has earned ten Billboard top #1 smooth jazz records over the past eight years. We also will be celebrating Big Dog’s birthday.

Soul Jazz Flutist Althea Rene is one the world’s most exciting solo improvisational flutists and regarded by some as a “master of her craft.” Her hit song “In the Flow” allowed her to become the first flute player in the history of the Billboard Chart to reach the #1 spot. She was born in Detroit, Michigan and began her musical journey at age four as a classical flutist. She studied classical music while attending Howard University in Washington D.C. and later gained further musical inspiration from the accomplishments of Yusef Lateef, Ian Anderson, and her father, one of Motown’s original Funk Brothers, Dezie McCullers.

Recording Artist Barbara Fowler of Hartford will be debuting her new music, which includes a hot single titled “I’m Just Saying” or “IJS” as well as some very tasteful selections for this Up Close and Personal evening of music.

Christi Jones of Waterbury is an electrifying vocalist that will captivate a crowd and leave you wanting more. She’s a bona fide recording artist that can be heard on the single “No Sleep” from saxophonist Kim Waters new album titled “Rhythm and Romance”.

Following the concert, guests will be invited to take to the dance floor for an Old School Dance Party featuring everyone’s favorite R&B, funk and club classics. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their white outfits and dance the night away!
